Myron L. Ron Barbour
Barbara, a few days ago I received the Alumni magazine from Pacific Lutheran University and learned of Bill's passing. I just googled his name and found him and his obituary. I was one of Bill's roommates in Evergreen Court at PLC (now PLU) There were three of us in that room. Donald Glass was the third. Obviously we never stayed in touch with each other. We spent the school year 1958-1959 together. I graduated in 1960. (I didn't know Bill was older than I at the time…I just turned 74.) Even though we didn't keep up with each other's lives, I have always had fun memories of that time, and thought of him many times. He was a delight…, very articulate, and could always handle himself wittily in any conversation. I don't know if you ever heard him imitate the Japanese soldiers of WWII…"Banzai, banzai, we're all for Hirohito!!" I'm glad you included a recent photo of him. I recognized him immediately…and that smile. I was not at all surprised to learn that he was a gardener. I'm sure that was a great outlet for his artistic talents. I'm sure you and your friends all miss him. I just wanted to let you know about the delight he brought into my life for a short while so long ago. God bless and keep you. Pastor (retired) Ron Barbour
