William E. HaughnApril 21, 1915 - April 2, 2011 Died peacefully in Berkeley on April 2, 2011 at the age of 95. William "Bill" E. Haughn was born in LA on April 21, 1915. He grew up and lived in San Francisco, went to High School of Commerce and graduated from UC Berkeley in 1936. He worked at Chevron from 1938 until 1973. Bill loved to travel, play golf and poker. He was the treasurer of the Tilden Seniors Golf Association for many years and was an active member of the Sons In Retirement Branch #12. He married Maria Fuentes on February 26, 1990 and they lived happily together for 21 years. Bill is survived by his wife Maria, stepson Malio Pinlac and his wife Tess, and step grandchildren Nina and Mara. He was predeceased by his sister, Muriel Combes and is also survived by his nieces Janet Looney (married to Ron Looney) and Judi DeWolf, grandnephews Ed and Keith Looney, grandnieces Emily and Leah DeWolf as well as great grandnephews and great grandnieces. Bill's family would like to thank the staff of Chaparral House in Berkeley as well as the staff of Vitas Hospice for their compassionate services, advice and care. There will be a viewing on Sunday April 10th from 3pm to 7pm at the Chapel of the Chimes on Piedmont Avenue in Oakland. A memorial service will follow at the Chapel of the Chimes at a later date.
