Susan Wu's Obituary
Susan Wu was born on August 23, 1967, in San Francisco, CA to Peter Jin Wu and
Tak-Ching Tung. She graduated from George Washington High School in 1985.
Her journey began when she joined the Army after completing a year of college. She
enlisted in the Army and, after finishing basic and advanced training, was stationed in Germany
for three years. Upon returning, she transferred to UC Santa Barbara, where her two younger
sisters were already studying. However, after just one quarter, she was called back to serve in
January 1991 for Operation Desert Storm, which ended a few months later.
After earning her degree in Business Economics, Susan joined the Treasury department at
Visa International in 1993, where she remained a dedicated employee for the rest of her life.
Passionate about higher education, she pursued and completed her MBA through the University
of Phoenix while working at Visa. It was also at Visa that she met her husband, Alan Lim. In
1998, they got married, and were blessed with their first child Sophia in 2000 and Olivia in 2002.
Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, faith, and adventure.
While residing in San Francisco, she was a devoted member of Full Life Christian
Center, then after moving to the East Bay settled at Pathway Community Church, where she
found great joy in Bible study, hospitality, and fellowship. Susan had a heart for serving others
through Pathway Community Church. She felt called to go on missions with her two daughters to
Portland, Oregon in 2016 and 2017. Whether providing aid to underserved families or spreading
the Gospel, Susan embraced each opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of
others.
Beyond her faith and career, Susan had a love for storytelling—whether through the
gripping plots of Korean dramas or the high-speed action of Fast & Furious movies. She also
had a love for suspenseful thrillers and could be found immersed in the novels of Lee Child and
James Patterson. Susan cherished the time spent with her loved ones, finding joy in shared
experiences. She had an adventurous spirit and a deep passion for travel, always eager to explore
new places with her family. Some of her favorite destinations included Hawaii, Disneyland and
the Mediterranean.
In 2023, Susan was diagnosed with Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, a challenge she
faced with incredible strength and resilience. Surrounded by the unwavering support of her
family and friends, she underwent chemotherapy and two bone marrow transplants. Despite her
courageous fight, she passed away in 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished
memories that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her. Susan is survived by her
husband of 26 years, Alan, and their two beloved daughters, Sophia and Olivia Lim. She will be
deeply missed but forever remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her
family, friends and God.
"Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalm 23:6.
