Susan was a wonderful friend and sister-in-Christ. Our friendship goes back over 30 years. Along our journey, we encouraged each other in our faith, went on vacations together, and shared countless stories of parenthood - some good, some cringy, but it always ended with a lot of laughter. A lot.
Susan was always real and direct. Her smile would light up her eyes in welcome every time we got together. And, if she felt that you needed to hear something, she would tell you. That’s how much she cared, and it kept us growing in our faith and lives. Even in her illness, she never lost her trust in the Lord.
When I visited Susan during one of her stays at the hospital, in her usual forthrightness, she had asked me, “Jenny, why are you here?” Without hesitation, I told her it was because she was important to me. I could see it in her eyes that it was the right answer and what she needed to hear. We went on that day to laugh together for another few hours. I am so thankful for our friendship, our love for one another, and our shared joys. Susan, I will miss you so much, and I know that someday we will see each other again.
