Simon was a great guy and today would have been his birthday. I had the pleasure of working with Simon at 2 companies: Splunk and HashiCorp.
I am wishing Simon's family and friends all the best. He will always be in our hearts.
Simon was my uncle I miss him very much i wish he could still be here
I worked with Simon while at Splunk, and was shocked to learn of his passing. Simon was absolutely loved by his colleagues at Splunk and it is such a tragedy that he had to leave us so soon. Rest in piece, dear friend!
Je vous presente mes sinceres condolences.
I met Simon working at Outcome in its very earliest stages. I remember him as a young wiz kid full of life and ready to conquer the world. Unfortunately my time was short there, but we still hung out with a great crew of friends in SF for sometime after. Even after I left SF, I randomly bumped into him at least twice and every time he asked me to sit down, grab a drink and catch up on things. He was a great genuine soul and no one could take that away from him. My sincerest condolences to the Shelston family
Simon touched so many lives, but there's no one's he touched more than his daughter Brooke's. She lights up when she talks about him, she has his eyes, his wonderful sense of humor and his giant heart. We are all so lucky to have the time with him that we did. My daughter is so scared she will forget her dad; what he looks like, what he sounds like. But I promised her, you don't forget a guy like him.
Simon holds a special place in our hearts and our condolences go out to his parents Denis and Diane, his brothers Patrick and Benoit, and all of his extended family; We would also like to extend support to his wonderful wife, best friend and partner in life Simi and the little light of his life, his beautiful daughter Brooke. He loved you all more than anything in the world and we send our love and wish you comfort in this very difficult time.
Simon was like family to us and was part of our lives at so many different stages along the way. We shared many activities together like holidays, weddings, the birth of our children, concerts, sporting events, camping, house boating and other vacations/getaways; it is hard to now have to say goodbye.
We will forever love you and never forget the amazing times we shared. It saddens us that we will no longer be able to spend time together, but you live on in all of us in the memories that will remain forever.
Love always,
Nicholas, Cherish, Sophia and Tristan Portolese
I met Simon in college at Centennial, and was actually considering moving to SF when he, Onkar and Nick went. He was such a great guy as you know, and I was stunned to hear of his passing. I last saw him many years ago on one of his first visits back to Toronto, but we kept in touch by Facebook. Our deepest condolences to you all of his family, I held him in high regard and think back on him fondly.

My deepest condolences to Simon's family and friends. I had the pleasure of meeting Simon in college and we have been friends ever since - even though we live oceans apart. I have so many fond memories of Simon. He was kind and generous. He was full of life and always had a smile on his face. He changed the trajectory of my career. I will never forget Simon. I wish we could've met again and introduced our families. You will surely be missed my dear friend. Rest in peace brother.
Simon,
I’m sorry not to be able to tell you in person but thank you for your friendship. Thank you for inviting me into your home and into your life. You always treated me with kindness and generosity and a good helping of humor, even if you were a Windows guy.
I look upon that period in my life with the greatest sense of fondness and nostalgia. We had some good times and you were a big part of making that happen. Whither it was hanging out in the hot tub or going to hockey games or even to a boxing match you were always ready for action. Thanks my friend, I will miss doing those things with you.
Whatever comes next I wish you peace and happiness on your journey.
With warm regards and eternal friendship,
Jason Grajeda
