Shirley Ruth Sillineri's Obituary
SHIRLEY RUTH SILLINERI MARCH 30, 1924 – SEPTEMBER 13, 2011 Aunt Shirley passed away peacefully September 13, 2011 in Walnut Creek. She is survived by her beloved nephew Wesley (Sheri), and great nephews Wesley and Sean. Born and raised in Oakland, Aunt Shirley graduated from University High School in 1942, attended San Francisco State College where she received her Master’s Degree as a Medical Record Technician and later retired from the US Government. Aunt Shirley’s polio disability did not deter her from her from her many accomplishments: she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Sigma “California Junior Scholarship Society”; obtained her General Teaching Credentials to teach secondary school; became the first and only Recording Librarian from Samuel Merritt Hospital School of Medical Records Librarians; obtained her pilots license; was an avid photographer; world traveler, she even camped and rode a horse. Aunt Shirley was a beautiful person who had an amazing smile, spirit and drive. She loved life, her pets, and most of all her family and friends. She even put together an extensive family history. Aunt Shirley will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Tuesday September 27th, 1pm at Mountain View Cemetery 5000 Piedmont Ave in Oakland with a reception to follow at the Colombo Club. Those wishing may send memorial contributions to their favorite charity.
