Rodrigo “Rod” Ravanera – Deeply loved, forever remembered and fondly missed
Rodrigo “Rod” Ravanera passed away on February 27, 2017 in his home in Hercules lovingly surrounded by his wife Lynette, sons Rainier and Rinaldi, his daughter-in-law, Bernadette; grandchildren RJ and Ronin; brothers and sisters; in-laws and by his nieces and nephews. He was well-loved in life and in death.
Rod leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Lynette; children Rainier and Rinaldi daughter-in-law Bernadette; grandchildren RJ and Ronin, brothers Roger (married to Lita), Ramon and Reynaldo; sisters Rebecca (married to Jack) and Rachel (married to Dean); nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Rod is characterized as simply the best by those who knew him well and whose lives he had touched. He doted on his wife Lynette making sure that she is happy and has what she needed. He raised his sons Mackie and Nikki well with the right dose of love and discipline. He appreciated his daughter-in-law Bernadette calling her his favorite. He spoiled his grandchildren, RJ and Ronin like any grandfather would.
Rod was a great brother and brother-in-law – always ready to help, to listen and to support his siblings in any way that he can. He was one of if not the favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews because he showed them how to love and care for your family. He was a great friend, co-worker and relative because he loved life and the people around him felt that.
Rod is a great fan of sports particularly golf and basketball. He loved to play golf and was a huge fan of the Golden State Warriors. It just seemed fitting that the team was playing and won while he passed away. Rod also loved food. He had a deep appreciation and appetite for great food. He spent many hours sharing this love with his family and many memories that will be shared of him will be around this great passion. He values cleanliness and order and his family knows that they cannot match his standard when it comes to cleaning.
Rod had a remarkable smile and laugh. He possessed a fantastic sometimes sarcastic, sense of humor. He was kind and had an infectious love of life. He loved deeply and lived life to the fullest and those who are around him know that life will never be the same.
These are just some of the many reasons that Rod will be greatly missed. The loss is profound and impactful. However, those whom he loved and those that knew him are comforted by the knowledge that Rod left knowing and feeling that great love that his family and friends had for him.
The visitation will be held at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, California on March 8 and 9, 2017 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral church service will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes, on Friday, March 10 at 2808 Lakeshore Ave, Oakland, at 10:30 a.m.
