Bob was born in Kaysville, Utah and was the youngest of 7 children. His parents were Melvin and Rebecca Ashbaker. His sibling Dawayne, passed in the Korean War, Richard proceeded in death, Elias passed in Korean War, Dorothy Robbins lives in Ohio, Bonnie Kay Voigt lives in Layton, Utah and Ronald proceeded in death.
Bob was proud of his family background and very much enjoyed his childhood and visiting his Grandparents in Grace, Idaho. His Grandparent’s lived on a farm and raised everything they needed and worked hard every day.
Bob went to Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah and joined the Marine Corp when he was 17. He was a dedicated marine and loved working on helicopters. He went to Vietnam from 1966-1967. After Vietnam, he was stationed in Alameda at the Naval Air Station where he met his wife, Diane. Diane and Bob were married for 45 years and had 2 children. Steven Robert Ashbaker who is engaged to Emily Garcia. Tiffany Kristine Ashbaker-Johnson who is married to Joe Johnson. Bob and Diane also raised their niece and nephew Jennie Macleod and Kenny Macleod who is married to Lucy. They have 6 Grandchildren and 1 more on the way. There is Chelsea Ashbaker, Courtney Ashbaker, Ryan Ashbaker, Ava Ashbaker, Johnny Johnson-Ashbaker, and Kylee Macleod.
He enjoys the most difficult of projects and can fix just about anything. He has been working for Heat and Control in Hayward for the past 8 years and has made friends all over the world. He loved being busy working or helping others.
Bob and Diane have traveled throughout their marriage. They belong to the NCCA Corvette club for the past 13 years where they have made some wonderful friends. He was the Club President of the NCCA from 2008-2009. Which is the oldest corvette club in America. Bob loved Corvettes. We could say they were his most passionate hobby.
