I have many memories of my Pops. It was always nice to come over on the weekends and see him outside, working on his corvettes. For the months that I lived with him and my Mimi, it was such a special moment whenever he came home. I don't know what it was or why it felt so good but I was always so much happier as soon as my Pops was back. There's many many things that I will miss, especially the way he would say "certainly". He always said it like "soy-tanly". And then there's that little crooked finger, that he just never felt like fixing. I could always ALWAYS count on him for anything. No matter what came up, he would do what he could to help me out. The thing that I will miss the most, though it may come as a surprise, is the look that he would give me every time I reached into the cookie jar. There was a smile, and a little twinkle in his eye, and maybe a hand on the shoulder. The look that came with it was a look of "I love you, but you're busted". There are many many things that I will miss every day, but it's comforting to know that he lived every day exactly how he wanted to. He wanted to make sure to do what he wanted and see who he wanted. And he did. There are many people that loved him so so much, and I know that that love will not go away. Miss you Pops. Rest in peace.
What I just remember is, we met in 2003 through the NCCA meeting, finding out you and Diane were going to the 50th Anniversary of the Corvettes, and we did it together…… we shared a trip of a lifetime, and that was the beginning of a friendship, visiting each other almost every weekend, maybe because the NCCA or just because you were BBQ ing @ home or we decide to go to a show to Yoshi's (Diane's fave place) or go to Monterey to celebrate your lovely wife's BDay…….. or to San Francisco to a great restaurant for a dinner night out, Michael Jr. never forgot what he learn from you that night, he always made a comment about it.There were 4 intense years of coming and going, and for the last 6 years everything changed, but my respect/love for you and your family never did. how much I regret now ….. that you are gone, this absence of you and your family and friends in my life. Might be tooo late, but I know; your immense heart and luv for your family and friends, I know; even though we were not in contact lately ……… we were always FRIENDS!My fiend, you are in a better place, and we are here wishing you will return if possible……I have the best memories!!!!!!!!! you with your bud !!!! you with your apron next to the BBQ!!!!! you all over the place checking on with the car shows and the drags @ Vette Magic !!!!! what a great MAN just left our planet earth……. I know wherever you are, they are soooooooo lucky to have you……ASHBAKERLOVE YOU! miss you for the last 6 years my friend
