Mildred Bolden's Obituary
Johnnie Mildred Jenkins-Bolden was born November 26, 1938 in McComb, Mississippi to the proud parents of Claude and Edna Dillon-Jenkins. She made a peaceful transition January 21, 2018. Johnnie Mildred was an extremely devout Christian woman. She accepted Christ at a very early age and was baptized at Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, Mississippi. She continued her Christian devotion as a member of Zion City Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After moving to Oakland, California, she was a member of House Of Truth Pentecostal Church until her death, serving as Church Mother and Pastor’s Aide President.
Her formal education began in Fernwood, Mississippi and concluded by graduating from McKinley High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She received a Cosmetology Accreditation from Carrie Beauty School in Baton Rouge.
Johnnie Mildred was married to Jesse Shelmire at an early age. From that union they were blessed with three wonderful children: Gregory, Gail, and Joslyn (Penny).
She was preceded in death by her parents and two children Gregory Anthony and Joslyn Denise Shelmire (Penny).
Johnnie Mildred leaves to cherish her beloved memories: daughter Dianna Gail Shelmire-Palmore (Mark, Sr. [deceased]), brother Claude Jenkins (Lillie), two grandsons Mark Anthony Palmore II (Angel) and Justin D’Ronn Shelmire, fi ve great grandchildren Mia, Mikah, Mark Anthony III, Symone, and Kenya, a niece Claudia Walker (Bryan), a nephew Michael Claude Jenkins, one great niece London, two great nephews Bryan Xavier and Kingston, all of Oakland, CA, one Godson Leonard Shelmire of Elk Grove, CA, and a host of relatives and friends.
