2/5/17. Just ran onto this site, so put my words down anyway. I still miss my dear friend, Michael. His was a mentor to me at Union Pacific, a quick witted, hard chargin', fast talkin' son-of-a-gun, an Irishman through and through and told it like it was! Katie bar the door!! Even in his darkest hours, he said "I'm gonna be alright"! "They're gonna fix me"! I believed him, dammit it! He spoke highly of his family and especially of the grandchildren who gave him so much joy and love. My daughter and I were happy to be amongst you to pay tribute to his illustrious life!! At St. Augustine Church on Sunday, I was so saddened when I heard Michael's name spoken in our prayers for those who have died. I have always loved his gentle presence and very generous service in our church. I will miss Michael, and all of our community has lost an integral part of its soul. With love, Courtenay

We had such good times in San Francisco with Michael. He was the best man at ourwedding in 1961 and sadly we moved in different directions. We were able toreconnect via email and did get to have lunch with him a few years ago. He had beenthrough some rough times with his health but he never lost his sense of humor and hisgift of volunteerism. He will be missed.Jerry and Elaine Willer

I remember playing chess with Grandfather at the Russian River. He won, and afterwards he explained to me how I could have prevented checkmate. He taught me so much about chess, cooking, and life.
