Marlene Devere
Marsha and I worked together at Eastern Airlines until 1968. We were on the H Team and able to travel together since we worked the same shift hours. We shared a similar sense of humor, adventure and skepticism and so enjoyed each other’s company when we traveled. Our most memorable trip was to Mexico City where we met two very nice young men who drove us to Taxco, Mexico. They claimed they just wanted to practice their English and show us the beautiful silver city with its amazing gold-adorned basilica, but it became apparent their real reason had more to do with Marsha than grammar! The year I turned 21, Marsha gave me a beautiful silver bracelet with a charm wishing me a Happy Birthday. That the date engraved on the charm was a month too early only made it all the more memorable. She wanted to have a new charm put on the bracelet with the correct date but I loved it just as it was. To this day whenever I wear it, I laugh a little at my “new” birth month but always appreciate her thoughtfulness and kindness to me.Marsha was a dear friend that because our paths diverged we lost contact with one another but I never lost my admiration of her. She was smart, elegant and beautiful and was liked and respected by everyone at Eastern. In trying to find her online I came across her obituary and cried. I offer my belated condolences to her family and friends. I am so sorry for our loss.
