I miss you so much

In a moment of nostalgia, I looked fondly back on that commemorative video/DVD that I produced around the January 2009 Inauguration of Barack Obama as 44th President. I specifically pulled up the feature including Madie Thompson and her son Byron at the Historic Frederick Douglas House the day before the event. Through the use of Internet today/July25,2018, I discovered her death last year. It is with great sadness that I read her obituary. But with great joy in knowing that she experienced such historic event…and with pride that I was able to record an interview with her and in which she described its importance to her. For her life, I simply say, “To God Be The Glory!” May she rest in eternal peace. I am Ken Koontz, a freelance write/producer/reporter in Charlotte,NC.
Mom, it’s been almost a year and I miss you every day. I was blessed to have you as my mother and my friend. I love you soooo much

To Hillary and the Thompson Family,We first met in the early 80's. Mrs. Thompson was graciousand welcoming. Over the years we would see each other around the Lakeshore/Piedmont area and sometimes in Berkeley. Your Mom was always well-dressed, looking sharp with a smile. She will be missed.Blessings and prayers to you, Hillary and family.
My mom was one of the most loving, encouraging, giving person I've ever known. These past 6 years being back in Oakland with her has been a gift from God, being there when she fell asleep was a blessing. Mom was my angel now she's with God praising and dancing. Glory to God!
To all the children: Thank you for allowing me and my family to share your Mom all these many years. I came to love her not only as my "other" mother but also as a true friend. I will always remember her smile, her warm heart, her giving nature and her wise counsel. There wiil remain a place for her memory in my heart. Annie B.
I've known Madie all my life. She was one of my "other mothers" growing up in Oakland. My mother was like her other mother. We spoke often and she was with me and my mom until the very end of my mom's life. She helped me with everything I needed to prepare for her services. She had been on my mind, we hadn't spoken in a while. She was always absolutely one of my favorite people when I was a child and as an adult also! I called her the "jet setter". My condolences to Jesse, Byron, Hilary, Debbie, Laurie, Mitch and the whole family. She will be missed but will be seen again in Heaven.Nena Pearson- Hatfield
