Lyman M. Munson's Obituary
Lyman M. Munson Nov. 26, 1956 – Jan. 18, 2012 Resident of Orinda Passed away suddenly on January 18, 2012 at the age of 55. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Patricia Low, and father, Myron Munson, also of Orinda. Lyman, a native of Holyoke, MA, spent most of his youth in Westfield, MA. He was a Vice President at Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company in Novato, CA, where he worked since 2003. Lyman will be remembered as a treasured friend and colleague by all who worked with him. An avid runner, Lyman rose in the pre-dawn hours to get his exercise in before heading off to the office. After hours he frequently could be seen walking his two greyhounds around the Lafayette Reservoir. Lyman also enjoyed watching football and basketball, and he never missed an opportunity to watch World Little League Baseball. Lyman held a BA Degree in Mathematics from Bates College, Lewiston, Maine, and an MBA from St. Mary’s College. He also held a JD from Golden Gate University School of Law and was a member of the California Bar. Lyman practiced pro bono family law through the Bar Association of San Francisco. Lyman also served on the Board of Directors for Central City Hospitality House and Oakes Children’s Center, both in San Francisco. He was also past president of The Orinda Association. All will miss his contagious smile, quick wit and caring ways. Services will be held at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Ave., Oakland, CA on Saturday, January 28, 2012. Visitation is from 11:00 am. to 12:55 p.m. Service starts at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to share thoughts and memories about Lyman in the guestbook at www.oakland.chapelofthechimes.com.
