Lucille Elizabeth Harry's Obituary
Lucille Elizabeth Harry, daughter of George and Eleanora Adams was born June 9, 1915, in Barataria, Louisiana departed this life on December 12, 2016, in Oakland, California.
Mrs. Harry moved to Oakland, California during WWII, with her husband, William J. Harry, Sr. and children Joan Marie and William Jr. She was employed in various capacities, but retired from Alameda County after 25 years of service in the Juvenile Hall system. Mrs. Harry was an active member of Saint Benedict’s Catholic Church for decades. Her hobbies included cooking, crocheting, knitting, volunteering at her church and in various community services.
Mrs. Harry was, most importantly, a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her home was always open to friends and family and was filled with love and laughter.
Mrs. Harry was preceded in death by husband, William J. Harry; daughter, Joan Marie Barner; son in law, Aubrey Barner, Sr.; and son, William J. Harry Jr.
She is survived by her sisters: Shirley Porter of Vallejo, CA; Audrey Jefferson of New Orleans, LA; Grandsons: Aubrey Barner Jr. (Leslie) of Little Rock, AR; Kevin Barner of Merced, CA; and Ronald Barner of Atlanta, GA.; Granddaughters: LaTrice Harry of Richmond, CA; and Alicia Harry of Merced, CA; 14 great grandchildren;12 great great grand children and a host of nieces and nephews.
Service will be held at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland, California on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at 1:30pm.
