Kevin Siang Soon Ho's Obituary
Kevin Siang Soon Ho (“KHO”) touched the lives of so many along his path in life. Kevin was a caring son, loving brother, doting uncle and adored by his family and friends for his gentle soul and giving spirit.
Kevin was born on September 4, 1992 in Oakland, California. He spent his early childhood years in Lafayette, California and the majority of his school years in the town of Alamo. He played and excelled in soccer, cross country, swimming and lacrosse. In high school, he won several Coach’s Awards for the Monte Vista soccer varsity team and cross country team and garnered the nickname of “KHO” through his friends, which stuck through his adult years. Kevin was known for his speed and tenacity, boundless effort and especially for his sportsmanship and his kinsmanship among his teammates. Kevin graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Wine and Viticulture with a concentration in Business. He spent his first year after college working at a winery in Paso Robles. Shortly after, he joined Chevron as a Project Controller where he rose through the ranks as a Scrum Master and then Release Train Engineer. After almost nine years at Chevron, he joined CPrime as an IT Consultant in 2024. At work, Kevin was not just a high performer but an endeared co-worker. Kevin was just “that person” for everyone - easy going, trustworthy and safe. He was fiercely loyal and put his friends’ needs ahead of his own. In 2022, Kevin moved to Oakland, California, an homage to his birth city, and the place that felt most like home to him - central to all he loved, urban life, diverse people, walks around Lake Merritt, San Francisco, and his family just a short drive through the tunnel.
Kevin loved the outdoors. It didn’t matter if it was the beach, desert or the high trails, he just loved the solitude of nature and being with his music and meditation. Kevin’s favorite pastime was writing and producing music under the moniker “Kevin Coast.” He was an amazing musical poet and lyricist and left a legacy of his artistry on multiple musical platforms for everyone to enjoy in perpetuity.
This quote from one of Kevin’s best friends describes him well:
“Kevin was such a pillar in my life and shaped who I am. I am so lucky to have been able to grow up with him and have him shape how I understand the world. The crazy thing is that he was that person for so many different people. He deeply cared about so many and had a way of making the misfits feel like they fit somewhere. His kindness and how he treated others is the most salient part of his legacy. There wasn’t anyone out there that was better.”
Kevin passed away on July 5, 2025, two months before his 33rd birthday. While his absence here in this world will be deeply felt by his loved ones and dear friends every single day, we take comfort in knowing that he is now in the place of eternal peace, joy and restoration, walking on the streets of gold, whole and radiant.
Kevin is survived by his parents, Gene and Cynthia, his sister, Lauren, and brother-in-law, Adam, and his nephews, Lucas and Leon.
His Celebration of Life will be held at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, July 20, 2025. Love offerings may be directed to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) in honor of Kevin’s memory
