Kathleen Tatsumi Lee's Obituary
Kathy passed away at Kaiser Hospital Hayward on September 11, 2012. Born Kathleen Nakasone in Paia, Maui, Hawaii, she graduated from the University of Hawaii. She was a teacher for 40 years, teaching in Hawaii, Los Angeles and Oakland. Kathy was honored with a Distinguish Teacher's award in 1993. She was such a positive and caring person that even in her last days, she was caring for others before herself. She will leave behind many many friends. I will miss her greatly and will carry forward her examples. After retiring from teaching in 2000, she became an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling both home and abroad, and was a Kaiser Hospice Volunteer and active member of Buena Vista U.M.C. She had many interests like quilting, readings of all types, exercise class, daily walking. Beloved wife of 43 years of Albert Lee, mother of daughter Tara (Eric) Gelston, grandmother of Reese and Kali. A loving sister of Claudia (Rinky) Shimabuku, Molly(Joe) Takushi, Herbert (Jean) Nakasone, Joyce Chan, and sister-in-law to ( Ging Jeong (Wai Jing)), Susie Pung, George (Grace) Chin, Rosie (Harry) Ong, and Aunty to many, many nieces and nephews. Viewing on Friday, Sept. 28th from 5:00 -7:00 PM, Chapel of the Chimes Piedmont, Julia Morgan Chapel, 4499 Piedmont, Oakland, CA. Celebration of Kathy’s life on Saturday, Sept. 29th at 2:00PM-4:30p, reception follows, at the Buena Vista U.M.C., 2311 Buena Vista Ave, Alameda, CA.
