Elvin “Woody” Woodward, 89, of Alameda, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. He was born on July 6, 1924 in Howard Lake, Minnesota. Woody is survived by his daughters, Gail Moor Read Obituary
i just looked at my 4th grade report card dated 1969. it was a transitional year for me as a kids. this gentleman helped me through that transition. he was a teacher and a baseball coach to me but more an encouraging man and role model.i wish there were more teachers like him today.i wish the family well.thanks Mr Woodworth.
I new Woody for better than forty years, he always liked to be on the go but fishing was his greatest pass time. I remember camping with him at Turner Cut when on his birthday at 10 o'clock night on one of the docks he caught one of his biggest black bass ever. We used Turner Cut as a jumping off point for many day trips, those were the days and we always had fun. He had a geat store of knowledge and was fun to talk too. WOODY WAS A FRIEND TO ALL THE ROOMIES IN THE GOLDEN YEARS CHATROOM. HE WAS A DELIGHTFUL GENTLEMAN AND WE WILL ALL MISS HIM. WE LOVED HIS FISHING STORIES, HE ENJOYED EVERY MOMENT OF HIS LIFE WHEN HE WAS DOING SOMETHING OUTSIDE. HE SENT ME HIS STORY ABOUT BEING PLUCKED OUT OF THE WATER DURING WWii AND PUT IN A BODY BAG. HE SENT THE PICTURE OF WIHEN HE WAS A CURLY-HAIRED, CUTE BOY. WHAT A LIFE HE HAD! HE ADORED HIS FAMILY AND I NEVER SAW HIM WRITE AN UNKING WORD. CONDOLENCES TO HIS ENTIRE FAMILY.
