When I look through my little 6 year old girl eyes...I don't even remember most of what was seen but more so of what was felt. I remember the feeling of being welcomed and loved on and feeling oh so special when I would go with Bobbie Jean and Clinton Binns, Jr to his parents' house. I saw a man and a woman, adults. They were the youngest couple I knew. Proper and neat. And always in the kitchen, waiting just for me, on the counter a special sweet treat. A piece of cake. I remember smiles and jokes and tricks that made me laugh out loud. Later in life through my very own adult eyes.. I still would find this lovely and loving couple, Mr. and Mrs. Binns. Sharp as tacks, business owners, great conversationalists and that wonderful feeling of love and acceptance embraced me. The tricks and jokes were now replaced with intellectual discourse peppered with wisdom and learning. So gentle so kind these life lessons were shared and offered to me as if on a golden tray. Allowing me to make the decision to partake or select what I wanted as true or worthy. My last conversation with Mr. Binns was slathered with his youthful love of Mrs. Binns and how they met. Followed by his prowess of military bravery and travel with the highlight of the story being when he returned to his bride to start their journey of husband and wife together. Alas..we are the witness of a true and great love story for even alphabetically only one letter separates Clinton from Emma. And that's the D. And today not even the sting of death separates C&E. The journey continues...
Love you and we will miss you..
Sincerely,
The Hodge Family
