Ann Thompson was my first supervisor in the purchasing dept. at the old Oakland Naval Supply Center. I will always remember her as fair and supportive. As long as you did your job correctly, you had nothing but praise from this lady. We clicked a week after I joined her branch. My favorite memory is when I went against the maintenance dept. head's recommendation and awarded a maintenance contract to a contractor who was the lowest bidder and offered better products and deal for the trees and foliage to be located on the base. The maintenance Dept..manager took his case to the base Commander. She called me in her office and simply asked in a very serious manner…"Do you know what you doing baby?" I nervously answered yes. I'd been there for less than a year. She told me not to worry about it and sent me back to my desk. I never heard about the issue again. That was when she also began to trust my judgment. I've often told her how much that meant to me at that time. She stepped up to the plate for me and I never forgot it. I will also miss her as a friend. R.I.P. Ms. Ann and know that you will be missed and was loved. She was one of a kind, smart, fair and always involved in her community issues. My condolence to her daughter, grandson and other family members. You were the love of her life.Codis Hampton II
