Anna L Joe's Obituary
Anna Lew Joe passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025. She was born on November 30,1928 in San Francisco, CA. Anna was a kind, caring woman, with a quiet strength to handle any challenges.
She grew up in Oakland, CA attending Oakland public schools alongside her sister and two brothers. After graduating from Oakland Technical High School, she began her work career at Alameda Navel Supply as a supply clerk. She married in 1954 and then left the workforce two years later to raise her two children Sue and David. She later began her second career at the Oakland Public Schools as Montera Jr. High School’s Library Clerk. She retired in 1992.
Anna was a very artistic and creative person. She enjoyed drawing, painting, and making things with her children and grandchildren when they were young. She belonged to the Chinese Presbyterian Church in Oakland Chinatown where she was the Sunday School Secretary for many years. Anna felt lucky to have gone on extensive travels all over the world with good friends.
Once widowed, she lived independently at Lakepark Retirement Residence and more recently at the Masonic Homes in Union City at Wollenberg for memory care. During her last years, dementia never caused Anna to forget her family and close friends. And even when she had difficulty remembering things, she was always good-natured and cheerful.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tack. She is survived by her children Sue and David, their spouses Michael and Heidi, her grandchildren, Rachel (and her husband Danny), Kevin, and Sophie, and her great grandson, Andy. She was cherished by all and will be missed dearly.
