Anita Aurelia Helm's Obituary
Passed away at her home in Oakland, surrounded by her family on Sunday February 3, 2008. Beloved wife and best friend of 51 years to Robert Helm. Loving mother of Judith Helm, Vicki Gambetta (Dick), Patti Bassett (Mark), and Christopher Helm. Grandmother of Kasia Schrader. Anita also leaves behind 5 godchildren, Carmen Lane, Ronald Marino, Joyleen Accosta, Debbie Nolan, and Kerry Nolan. She is also survived by a host of family and very dear friends. Anita was born on October 25, 1925 in Oakland and lived there her entire life. Oakland was her home town, and she was proud of that. She graduated from Oakland Tech and was very active in sports. Anita was a bookkeeper who worked with her husband at Accounting Service first located in Montclair and then in San Leandro. They purchased Pier 29 Restaurant in Oakland and ran the business for many years. The patrons and employees of the Pier always had great things to say about Anita. She continued her accounting skills with the Gaming Fund Group through 2007.HelmAnita loved her family, her animals and work. She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her name to Friends of Fairmont Animal Shelter, PO Box 3247, San Leandro, CA 94578 or Four Paws, PO Box 2794, Castro Valley, Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service honoring her life, on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 10:00am at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue in Oakland, CA.
