Yvonne Marie Zachary, precious wife of Ronald Zachary and adored mother of Matthew and Deanna. died peacefully at her home on December l2th after a courageous struggle with lung cancer. Yvonne was happiest when surrounded by her husband and children. People could easily see the beauty, depth and intensity of Yvonne and Ron’s love for each other and their love for their children. Yvonne had a special place in her heart for Nicole Heinrich and Laura O’Neal. Yvonne’s family was blessed to have the opportunity to show her the immensity of their love during her illness. Yvonne. a native of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, was the loving daughter of Albert and Rosalie MacKinnon.She studied nursing in Toronto and practiced in Toronto, San Francisco and Oakland. She was a voracious reader and especially loved great food. world travel, and to spend time with her family and friends on vacations at Sea Ranch and Point Reyes.Yvonne is survived by her dear sister Kathleen Cormier, her nephew Marc Cormier, her niece Berenice and husband Moha Oumghar, all of whom she loved with an her heart. She also leaves behind her closest friends Carole and Don Lauer whom she teased and loved for forty years. Her wit and spirit will be remembered and treasured by us all.Friends are warmly invited to attend a funeral mass on Tuesday, December 18 at 1 p.m. at Newman Hall in Berkeley.Donations may be made in her honor to Alliance for Lung Cancer Advocacy, Support and Education, #800-298-2456.
