Her Life Summary
Wynne Y. Chang, a long-time resident of Oakland California passed away on October 11, 2016, at the age of 97. She was born on January 18, 1919 in a small village of Guangdong, China (Leung Village). Her parents were Chan Fook Chor and Chang Kin Hing. Her family was a prominent family in Guangzhou, Guangdong China before the Second World War. Wynne Chang was the oldest daughter amongst seven children in their family.
Wynne Chang’s life spanned several countries- China, Hong Kong and the United States of America. After completing her college education from Lingnan University in Guangzhou, she worked at a trading company as well as an orphan-adoption organization before moving to America. In 1961, she met and married Albert Chang of Oakland. Besides overseeing the household, Wynne Chang was very active and spent tireless hours in caring for her own Chan family and her husband’s Hoy Chang Whole-distributing Company, along with those functions of Lingnan University Association and other charity work. She was also an avid gardener with flowers and plants.
Wynne Chang was a serious, strict and fair person. At the same time, she was very personable and was nice to people. She is well liked by her neighbors and friends of the family, Hoy Chang Company and Lingnan University. Wynne Chang has two surviving sisters, Judy Chum and Beverly Fok, and many nephews and nieces. Wynne Chang’s care for them has earned their respect, admiration and love. Wynne Y. Chang will be well missed.
