Winnie Jewel Childs' Obituary
Winnie Jewel Childs was born on December 27, 1926 in Rusk, Texas to her loving parents Willie Fullilove and Henry Johnson. Both parents proceeded her in death. Winnie had 5 siblings, Wilmer, Valerie, Eula Ray, Sonja and Bobby. All of Winnie’s siblings proceeded her in death except Sonja.
Winnie accepted Christ at an early age and attended Elm Grove Prespertarian Church when she moved to Dallas, Texas.
Winnie received her former Education in Dallas, Texas. Winnie subsequently moved to California where she met and married the late John Thomas Peters. Winnie and John had four children, Vicky, Charles, Donald and Ruby.
While in California Winnie was employed for many years with The Levi Straus Co. where she was a Seamstress. Winnie loved to sew and loved to make dresses for her daughters, dresses for herself and others, pillows, scarfs and just about anything you wanted sewed she could make.
Winnie later met and married her life partner Roy Arthur Childs who proceeded her in death. They were married 35 plus years.
Winnie was a very kind, thoughtful, loving, giving person who never had anything negative to say to or about anyone.
Winnie departed this life on June 1, 2014 and leaving to Cherish her memory are 3 children Vicky Louise Williams, Donald Ray Peters and Ruby Jewel Peters-Crisp, (Charles Earl Peters deceased), 5 Grandchildren, James Hendrix, Kim Peters-Flowers, Tiffany Banks, Maurice Williams, Brandon Peters, 7 Great Grandchildren, Monica Hendrix, Lashawn Price, Robert “Robby” Banks, Maurice Williams Jr., William Banks, Angel Williams, Edward Banks, 1 sister Sonja Gray, Niece Artie Johnson, Nephew Willie Henry Johnson, 1 daughter-in-law Joan Peters, 2 son-in-laws Johnny Crisp and O’Dell Williams and a host of friends who loved her.
