Willie Bee Phillips' Obituary
Willie Bee Phillips was born in the Bay Rapids Parrish of Boyce, Louisiana, on December 26, 1919. She was the youngest of four children, born to her proud and loving parents, George and Marie Smith. During her life she was married to wonderful men, Columbus Mims and Alphonse Phillips both preceding her I death.
Willie Bee was known by many names. She was affectionately call Bee Bee, Mama Mommy, Grandma, G.G., and Grandma Phillips. This woman by all names was the epitome of a Matriarch. She was of the mind, Lets Get It Done. I remember on many occasions these exact words coming out of her mouth. She did not allow herself to be deterred from doing what she believed was right. It did not matter whether it was easy or difficult. She tried to instill in those that she loved that doing the right thing was always the best course of action.
Willie Bee was many things in her life, worker, homemaker, friend, wife, student, daughter, sister, cousin, counselor, advisor. However was what she cherished most. Willie Bee lost her mother when she was only eight years old. After her mother died, she always missed the love, nurture and protection that her mother had given to her. When she became a mother, she never wanted her children to grow up without the love and protection that a mother provides. Her constant prayer to God was allow me to live to see my children grown and self sufficient. God with his grace and wisdom, granted her that wish.
Willie Bee was a woman of unwavering faith, believing in the power of God and prayer. she lived by faith and shared her faith with everyone whom she met, with love and kindness. She often said if you look for the best in people, people will often show you their best. Willie Bee was a gentle, fun, funny, loving, hard working, strong, kind and compassionate woman, possessing great wisdom and infinite patience. Her peaceful spirit, quiet confidence and great integrity will be missed by all.
She was mother to Rosalie, Diane, Barbara, Marie, Linda, Shelia, Alfonsa and she was preceded in death by Verna, Darrell and George, mother in law to Lance, Wayne, Emmy, Jim, Albert, Donald and Kitty. Left to mourn her passing are her grandchildren Kenneth, Kevin, Tanya, Dwana, Vicki, Carlos, Kye, Shawn, Voge, Lynette and Tamiah and a host of Great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her grandchildren Kimberly, Thurman and Lamont preceded her in death.
