William Alexander Ellis' Obituary
WILLIAM A. ELLIS died January 8, 2003 at the age of 80. He leaves behind his wife, Mildred of 57 years; his daughter, Judith Ann Taylor, and his twin sister, Shirley Stromgrem of Sacramento. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and their families.Born and raised in Alameda, he served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II, seeing action on Guadalcanal, Bouganville, Guam and Iwo Jima. His business career was insurance in San Francisco. He was a member of the St. Frances Yacht Club and served as commodore of the Metropolitan Yacht Club in Oakland. He was a member of the Alameda Elks Club for many years and was an active amateur radio “Ham” throughout his life. He was a member of the Park Boulevard Presbyterian Church. He will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by his family and friends.
