William Huie Chin's Obituary
William Huie Chin, aged 93, died at his home in Oakland, California on December 15, 2020.
Born on November 24, 1927 in China, he came to America in 1939 with his father and younger brothers, Frank and Henry. Thereafter, he trained as an aircraft mechanic at Kai Tak International Airport in Hong Kong and subsequently became an aircraft mechanic for United Airlines. On September 5, 1954 he married Mayford Eng. They were married for 66 years.
Bill, as he became known as, loved ballroom dancing with Mayford, playing Mah Jong, raising orchids, and cheering on his favorite football team, the Oakland Raiders. He also enjoyed woodworking; making various furniture pieces (including a multilevel doll house for one of his grand-daughters). Bill also loved to travel and enjoyed seeing the world with Mayford, and their children and grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife Mayford; his children, Isabella, Gina, Gordon and Jeffery; his grandchildren, Vanessa, Darryl, Alicia and Julia; and his great-grandchildren Cassius and Adelia. He is also survived by his youngest brother, Henry.
In lieu of flowers and memorial gifts, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his memory.
