Unfortunately, many signs like that stem from people autcally being that stupid at one point and time. It is to clear themselves of liability but how much you wanna bet that nobody ever thought to put a sticker like that there until someone really intelligent thought to attempt to step out that window?
Wilbur Russ had a strong charismatic presence that made him highly visible wherever he went. A former World War II fighter pilot, he was grace under pressure. The man was totally fearless. Even from afar, you could spot him by his distinctive walk. He moved and looked like a winner. The sort of person, who tends to be noticed, listened to, respected, and followed. All of which I did for 37 years as his protÃ?Æ?Ã?©gÃ?Æ?Ã?© and close friend "Bones." Wilbur loved the legal system and practiced law as if it were a sacred religion. Intelligent and full of surprises, he really kept you on your toes. He was witty and humorous even when the chips were down. A truly good person. Someone you could always count on. IÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢ll always remember my closest friend, Wilbur Russ, as the greatest person you could ever encounter. I will remain eternally grateful for having known this fabulous man.
My wife, Lucy, introduced me to Wilbur. I have spent almost 25 years enjoying the pleasure of his company. A really intelligent man, who must have read everything, because he could talk about almost any subject. He also had a great sense of humor and a sharp wit. I can understand why he was such a brilliant lawyer. Wilbur was also a compassionate and courageous person who always defended the underdog. A truly honest and generous human being. Over the years, he became my close friend and mentor. He thought the world of my wife and always called her "Bones." For 37 years they shared a friendship that was truly special. I know that my Uncle Bill tried to give Gaile a wide berth when entertaining her relations, such as me, my two brothers, and more recently our children. I always had the impression that he did so as a courtesy, and not a snub. When I did have the pleasure of his company or conversation, he was unfailingly charming and intelligent. He long ago told me this, which has still resonates with me through over a quarter century of practicing law: "There are a lot of lawyers, but damn few good ones."
I am Susan Huber McGregor, and I was Bill's secretary from 1967-72. I have not seen him in decades, but he has been in my mind lately. He was an incredibly bright man. We shared a birthday. I know this loss is geat for you, Gayle. You are in my thoughts during this difficult time.
I shall miss all the many years of his good company and helpful advice, even the good-natured teasing. God bless him.
