Wilbur C. McEachin's Obituary
Wilbur Cromwell McEachin passed away peacefully on October 14, 2016 in San Leandro, California. He was born on July 10, 1933 in Maxton, North Carolina. Wilbur leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Verlyn McEachin; loving daughter, Yolanda Butler (Anthony Butler); beloved Pa-Pa to Kylan Phillip-Anthony Butler, Kevyn Ryan Butler, and Kai Yvonne Butler; one brother, LaGuardia McEachin. He was a tremendous giver to many non-profit organizations like the following: National Wildlife Federation, American Bird Conservancy, Children International, Native American Rights Fund, American Foundation for the Blind, Salvation Army, American Cancer Society, Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation, and so many more. Wilbur was a Retired Science Teacher in the Oakland Public School System for over 25 years. He was an avid golfer and in his later years he loved his technology and considered himself the “Tech King”. He loved to change the way you thought with making you use your critical thinking especially in, world news, politics, religion, and his beloved African American Heritage and Culture. Wilbur loved music and was known to play various musical instruments. He really had a big heart for his family and friends. Those who knew him dearly called him “Suga-Pie”. He was intentionally thoughtful towards giving Christmas and Birthday cards and many will miss that because he did that for over 40 years. He was affiliated with the Calvary Temple COGIC, Everlasting Life Ministries, and gave his time heavily to the Acts Full Gospel (COGIC-Pastor Bob Jackson).
