Viola Dennis' Obituary
Viola Scott Dennis, 78 years old of Richmond, California passed away on March 8, 2021 in Fremont, California. She was born in Richmond, Virginia on May 6, 1942. She was married to Curtis Lee Braxton on December 30, 1958 and later to James Dennis, Jr. on March 11, 1961.
Viola graduated from nursing school at the age of 16 years old and received a degree and certification as a licensed vocational nurse.
Viola had a career as a house wife in Los Angeles, in nursing at Greenvale Convalescent and Martinez County Morgue, motel management, at Acardia and Spectrum group homes and in-home care services in the Bay Area, California.
She was a member of the Eastern Stars and of St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Richmond California. She had a passion for gardening, motorcycling, race car driving (nicknamed “lead foot”), traveling, helping people, collecting Betty Boop items and crafts.
She was survived by her brothers, Linwood Scott and Henry Scott; sister, Studrella Scott and sister-in-law, Marietta Dowell.
She was survived by children; daughter, Cari Marie Dennis; son, James Dennis III; daughter, Thelma Jean Dennis; son, Curtis Lee (Dorothea) Braxton, Jr.; son-in-law, Travis Abner; daughter, Yolanda Regina Dennis (James) Clark; daughter, Charlotte Yvonne Dennis; daughter, Ynez Rachel (Maurice) Jasper (Drew Gordon) and godson, Nathan Caldwell.
She was survived by 28 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 31 great great grandchildren, 8 great, great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viola was preceded in death by her mother, Estelle (Nettie) Scott; father, Fred Scott; brother, Ernest Perkins Scott; sister-in-law, Eva Christian Scott; daughter-in-law, Tina Marie Braxton; son, Frank Allen Dennis; daughter, Sharon Yvette Dennis Abner, and husband, James Dennis, Jr.
