Velma Goria Magnani's Obituary
Velma Goria Magnani, born August 30, 1925, passed away very peacefully at home with loving family at her side on June 18, 2022, at the age of 96 years old. preceeded in death by her loving husband, Mario Magnani; father Baldessari (John) Goria; mother Nestorina Allesio Goria, both of Cassarelo, Italy; and sister Lee Edberg. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Magnani, son Mark Magnani, grand-daughters Carina and Aerielle Brackett and Alessandra and Cristina Magnani. She was a life-long resident of Oakland and graduate of Oakland Technical High School. she enjoyed her early years working for IBM in San Francisco, often reminiscing about commuting on the train to SF on what is now the Bay Bridge. Velma was a beloved volleyball and softball coach to many Junior High girls at St. Theresa School from 1970-1977. As an avid golf enthusiast, she was loved by so many at every golf course in the Bay Area and beyond. She and Mario were members at Contra Costa Country Club for 30+ years and most recently, Sequoyah Country Club. Her golfing claim to fame was making TWO hole-in-one's in ONE WEEK at Contra Costa Country Club when she was 84 years old! She will be laid to rest with her husband, Mario, at Chapel of the Chimes with a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to your favorite charity.
