Theresa Morgan's Obituary
In the quiet hours of December 4, 2024, the world lost a woman who loved deeply, fought fiercely, and gave of herself until there was nothing left to give. Born in Kewanee, IL to Robert Richard Pollock and Theresa Kay Pollock (ne Reynolds) on September 23, 1956. She lived most of her childhood with her parents and siblings in Harvester/St. Charles, MO, and graduated from Francis Howell High School in 1974.
She moved back to Kewanee, IL to make a fresh start and raise a family of her own. She spent over 20 years as a devoted employee of Eagle Foods grocery stores where she met her husband James (Jim) Morgan when he attempted to get bossy with her. She spent the rest of her life showing him who was boss. She was passionate about creating a better life for her two sons, Joshua Morgan, and Caleb Bennett-Waugh, and applied her determination to pushing them to do their best in everything they attempted. She taught the values of hard work, discipline, and focus. She also taught the joys of a home cooked meals, the benefits of a warm hug after a hard day, and the importance of finding joy and laughter in even challenging situations. She opened her heart to those who loved her family, and embraced them as family, and became the nucleus of an incredible chosen family of people whom she loved and who loved her in return.
For work reasons the family moved to Dubuque, IA in the early 90’s and spent 10 years there making friends and building community before making the big decision to move to California in the early 2000’s. Shortly after settling in Northern California, she began working for Costco where she would spend another 20 plus years of employment.
She loved reading books, watching classic films, playing card games, spending time with her grandchildren (Lana and Luca Morgan) and her dogs (Grace and Audrey). She traveled when she could and loved making holidays special for her family (especially Christmas).
Just as she prepared to retire, fate dealt her a cruel hand in the form of ovarian cancer. She faced this battle with the same unyielding spirit that had guided her through every storm and her final years were a testament to her bravery. She bore the unspeakable pain with grace, never letting it diminish her love or her resolve. She passed away in the sanctuary of her home, her husband by her side, her sons nearby—a quiet end to a life that had roared with determination and tenderness.
Terry leaves behind a legacy of resilience and love, a devoted husband of over 40 years James Morgan (Jim), two sons: Joshua Morgan and Caleb Bennett-Waugh, a son-in-law, Andrew Bennett-Waugh, two grandchildren: Lana and Luca Morgan and her loyal dog, Audrey. She is survived by her two sisters, Lisa Duron of Forest Hill, CA and Nannette Hoosier of Florissant, MO. She will be missed beyond words and remembered as a blessing to anyone who knew her.
Memorial Service will be held on January 11 at 10:00 AM at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Ave. Oakland, CA
