Ted, beloved brother, dedicated uncle and cherished friend to so many, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer. He will be eternally missed by all those who had the privilege to know him.
Born, in Oakland, December 5, 1948 to Rose Look Wong and Ken Edward Wong. Ted is survived by his sister, Arlene (Marcel) Svizzero, nephews; Justin (Nancy), Marco & Christian Wong-Svizzero, Brother, William (Sharon) Fung, nephew, Christopher (Stephanie) Fung and mother of Christopher, Encina (Mike) Ong. He will be greatly missed by Shirley, David, Joshua & Evan Rhee and the Siu families.
Ted attended Lincoln Elementary & Chinese School in Oakland's Chinatown, and Westlake Jr. High where he developed many of his life long friends. After graduating Oakland Tech, Ted earned a History B.A. degree at Cal State Hayward. He was a USPS employee for forty years.
Among his accomplishments, Ted was a graduate of the prestigious Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts Academy. He participated in many outdoor sports including the New York Marathon, and loved to travel the world. Ted adored his pets, a Shiba Inu, Clarence and an American Bulldog, Rosie.
He was a good-hearted and thoughtful man who always gave more than he took in this world. His kind and giving spirit will always be imprinted in the hearts of all those he touched.
Memorial contributions in honor of Theodore Wong may be donated to the American Cancer Society.
A private funeral service will be held at the Chapel of the Chimes.
In keeping with the spirit of Ted’s life and his choice of attire, the gentlemen may bid him farewell wearing Hawaiian shirts.
