Taketo Nakajima's Obituary
Taketo Nakajima passed away peacefully at the age of 50 in Oakland, CA on Jan. 3, 2003 because of complications due to stomach cancer. He was born and raised in Japan and came over to the Bay Area in 1973, where he has been living ever since. After graduating from Cal State Hayward with a degree in accounting, he went on to work for the County of Alameda as an Auditor for 23 years. In addition to employment duties, he also found time to generously serve community organizations. He was on the Board of Directors for the Berkeley Center for Independent Living for 11 years, his last position being Chairman of the Board. More recently, he was the Treasurer for the Board of Directors for Asian Health Services in Oakland, also for 11 years. He is survived by his brother, Mineharu Nakajima, mother, Yuri Nakajima, sister in-law, Emiko Nakajima, nephew, Motohiro Nakajima, and niece, Keiko Nakajima all of Nagoya Japan. His son Simon Nakajima of San Francisco, CA also survives him. A tireless worker and caring individual, he will be greatly missed by many.
