Michael and I send our deepest condolences to Fred, Dan, Jessica and all of Susan's loved ones. We loved spending evenings watching the sun go down and exchanging tales as Fred tended the grill and Susan and I ensured appetizers were out and glasses filled. My favorite memory of our foursome having dinner was the night we turned up with cupcakes that resembled succulents so closely that Susan brought in real ones for comparison.

Susan's intelligence, wit, and warmth will be missed.

Susan and I shared a deep love of swimming. She told me a story about one of her annual trips back east with her group of close friends. She said that while swimming in a lake she felt something attach itself to her toe. She was able to lift her foot out of the water and see that a turtle had bitten her toe and was quite firmly attached to her! I truly enjoyed how much it delighted her to think of a turtle dangling from her wet toe!
