Domingos, Susan's Obituary
Susan Lynne Domingos, age 79, of Pleasant Hill, passed away peacefully on the evening of January 17, 2025.
Susan was born on December 10, 1945, in Los Angeles to Mildred and Edmund Ursin. Susan was always a California girl at heart. As a child, she was raised and educated predominantly in Sacramento, California as well as Orinda for a short period.
She attended Encina High School in Sacramento and Sacramento State University. While at Sacramento State she met and married John Domingos. They soon moved to Los Angeles, later to San Francisco and then Piedmont where they raised two children, David and Lynne. Susan was a stay-at-home mom who enjoyed tennis and was an active member of the League of Women Voters when she was in her twenties and thirties. In her forties she and John divorced and she began a new chapter of her life.
Her lifelong passion was writing and she was a member of many writing groups and enjoyed attending writing workshops. Working on her book and critiquing those of others brought joy and meaning to her life. During her years of writing she completed a novel as well as many short stories.
Later in life, she was a member of the Orinda Women’s Club for which she served as President for the years 2010-12. Being a member of the Women’s Club brought her many friends and provided a very supportive community during her many years living in the Lafayette, Orinda, Walnut Creek area. She especially loved attending the yearly Festival of Trees event that brought that community together.
She was a wonderful grandmother and was always up to babysit and spend time with her grandson Jack.
Susan is survived by her two children, Lynne Chauncey and David Domingos, her grandchild, Jack Chauncey, son in law Jim Chauncey and her brother, Edmund Ursin, as well as all the friends that she made during her time with us.
A memorial in her honor will be held at Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland on Sunday, February 9, 2025.
