Gary Clark
Years late, it was a shock to read that Steve had died. We were very tight in Sr. Year of HS at Muir HS. Lots of nights spent together at his house talking about the world, politics and life. He went off to Stanford, I caught up with him at Stanford a year later.
What I particularly liked about Steve was he belonged at a school the caliber of Stanford. I loved to watch him play, although it’s hard to watch individual linemen play. Steve made the transition from a guy who was a football player to a committed student who also played football. His passing up on a post-college football career did not surprise me, but his well-developed sense of a worthwhile path in life— and then following that path— seemed just like the Steve I’d known years earlier. I returned to Altadena/Pasadena and worked there for a decade. Often passed by his old family house often, each time a welcome memory.
