Shizue "Kimiko" Evans' Obituary
Shizue “Kimiko” Evans was born June 22, 1934, in Tobetsu, Hokkaido, Japan, to Riyusuke and Haru Doi. She was the youngest of seven children and graduated high school in Japan.
Kimiko married Alfred Evans of Oakland, CA, while he was in Japan serving as a Sergeant in the United States Army. In March 1962 Kimiko came to Oakland, CA with her husband, where she resided until her death. To this union were born two daughters, Haru and Mikiko Evans.
Kimiko attended Oakland’s Castlemont Adult Evening School, where she studied English and History to obtain her United States citizenship on January 2, 1968.
