Moss, Shirley M's Obituary
Shirley Moss, age 93 passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024. She was a devoted mother and adored Nana, and dear friend to many. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 16, 1931, she was the sixth child out of seven siblings born to Herbert and Evelyn Walters. After graduating from Woodward High School, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she enlisted in the Military. She served during the Korean War in the WAC Division. In the military is where she discovered Love. When she discharged from the military, she married and started a family in Cincinnati, Ohio. She later relocated to Oakland, California with her new little family. Shirley worked for the IRS, then continued her career with the US Postal Service, where she worked until she retired. There she was respected for her dedication and hard work. She approached every task with diligence and integrity; leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of working with her. Shirley enjoyed traveling and dancing, and she collected bells from all over the world. She took pleasure in being part of her local senior citizen social club, there is where she participated in line dancing and she also taught a couple of classes. She was an avid reader, she literally had hundreds of books. Shirley was very knowledgeable, one of her favorite TV shows was Jeopardy, and she knew all of the answers. Shirley found solace and joy in the simple moments spent with her family and friends. She lived a full and beautiful life filled with love and laughter where she made countless memories. Shirley will be remembered for her warm smile, gentle demeanor, and unwavering generosity. Shirley was preceded in death by her three brothers: William, Herbert, and Ronald, three sisters: Dolores, Vivian, and Vera, son Robert Johnson and daughter Sheila Smith. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her surviving son, Steven Moss, daughters-in-law Rosa and Toya, six grandchildren: Jaime, Crystal, Robyn, Lisa, Ariauna, and Steven II. Six great grandchildren: Maia, Tristan, Lemariae, Kaia, Rhyann, and Stephen II, and one great, great, grandson, Stephen III. Beloved nieces: Linda, Sandy, and Joan, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and countless friends who felt her warmth and kindness
