Cheng, Shelley Ortuoste's Obituary
Shelley Ortuoeste Uy was a devoted mother, grandmother and nurse. Born in Cotabato City, Philippines 1939. Her commitment to lifting up her parents and big family led her with her brother in 1969 to trailblaze to the U.S. as a registered nurse and doctor respectively. In 1972 Montreal, Canada she met and married Chuen Chak Cheng. They had 2 children there, moved to New York, had a third child in Brooklyn. She was working 7 days a week until her retirement after 42+ years. She sought paradise in Hawaii where she lived for 13 years and in 2022 moved to California where she found friendships, music and how to make jokes again. Shelley is survived by children May Funabiki, Dr. Edward Cheng, Jeffrey Cheng, son-in-law Gavin Funabiki, grandson Kyler Funabiki, granddaughter Malena Funabiki, and many nieces and nephews.
