Shawn Emanuel Braxton's Obituary
Shawn Emanuel Braxton was born on May 28, 1958, in Washington, D.C., to parents Dorothy Earlene Braxton and Eddie Martin. Shawn moved to California in 1969 with his mother after she had a stroke, and they were brought here to stay with his sister Jean and niece Valerie. He attended Jefferson Elementary School, King Jr. High School, and Berkeley High School. He worked various warehouse jobs, and he especially enjoyed working at the Berkeley Repertory Theater. Shawn loved to dress and look his best when he would go out, especially to his favorite club back in the day, Silks. Shawn found the love of his life at an early age, Carol Cooley, with whom he had a daughter, Tenia, and he also had a son shortly after.
Shawn passed away on September 19, 2025, after a long illness in hospice care. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Earlene Braxton, father, Eddie Martin, his son, Tony DeJon Easley, and Mother-in-Love, Mamie Cooley.
