Sharon J. Plomgren
Orinda, Ca In loving memory of Sharon Jensen Plomgren. She was born in 1936, and is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ronald Plomgren, and siblings Lowell Jensen and Marlene Eastman. She joins her parents Wendell and Elnora Jensen of Utah and Alameda, CA., and brother Rollin Jensen. Sharon went to Lincoln Elementary School in Alameda. She graduated from Alameda High, has degrees from UC Berkeley and Brigham Young University, and taught grammar school. She was the loving mother of 3 children, David Plomgren of San Carlos, Susan Candell of Lafayette, Karen Diarra of Sacramento, and of 7 grandchildren: Justin, Stina, Allison, Riley, Peter, Dana, David. Sharon treasured her faith and raised her children with ethics and reason.
Sharon loved Lake Tahoe and spent summers since 1972 at the pier of Agate Bay. She enjoyed snow and water skiing. She loved Hawaii where they lived briefly in early 1960’s then vacationed many times with family and friends. As the children grew, she was active in the American Association of University Women, the Women’s Athletic Club (now Bellevue Club), and Lombardy Branch of Children’s Hospital, Oakland. She and Ron travelled the world extensively in retirement, including Alaska glacier cruise with all kids and grandkids in June 2012.
Funeral will be held at Chapel Of Chimes on 4499 Piedmont Avenue in Oakand to start at 3:30PM on Sunday, January 27th. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Children’s Hospital Branches, 5700 MLK Jr. Way T-2, Oakland, CA 94609
