Seán Patrick Kelleher's Obituary
After a very long illness, Seán Patrick Kelleher, passed away peacefully in Castro Valley, California, on October 24, 2018, surrounded by his caregivers and sisters.
Seán was born in San Francisco, California, September 11, 1957, to Patricia Marie Cattolica (Wray) and Mortimer Andrew Kelleher, Jr. When Seán was a sophomore in high school, he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.
Seán was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America where he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout and was accepted into the Order of the Arrow. Seán enjoyed hiking and exploring the outdoors and was an avid skier who chased the snow throughout his life.
After graduating from Piedmont High School, Seán attended the University of Utah. While there he began working in the restaurant industry. Seán decided to follow his passion for cooking by enrolling in the San Francisco Culinary Academy. After that, he followed his dream by working as a chef at restaurants in Utah, Tahoe, the Bay Area, and Southern California.
Seán is survived by his siblings, Mary Kelleher-Jones; Erin Kelleher-Wees; Brian and Martin Kelleher; seven nephews and nieces; and his step mother, Barbara Kelleher.
Per Seán’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. Donations may be made in his memory to the Sierra Club or the National Audubon Society.
