Sachiko Ruth Tokirio's Obituary
Sachiko Ruth Tokirio, lovingly known as “Sachi,” of Oakland, California, passed away peacefully of natural causes on September 15, 2025, at the remarkable age of 100 years and 7 months. Born on February 17, 1925, in Fresno, California, she was the beloved daughter of the late Sadao and Tomeyo Okai. She formerly was from Los Angeles where she raised her family. She then relocated to the Bay Area and lived in Alameda for close to thirty years.
Sachi’s life was defined by grace, elegance, and resilience. She married the love of her life, Frank Masaru Tokirio, with whom she shared more than 67 years of marriage until his passing. Together, they built a legacy of family, love, and devotion that endures through their children, Kathy (Michael) Leong and Carey (Vicki) Tokirio; granddaughters Erin (Sunny) Chan, Misha (Sebastian) Renaudin and Erica and Toni Tokirio; great-grandchildren Masden and Kaizumi Chan, Ameline and Orson Renaudin; also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
An entrepreneur with an impeccable sense of style, Sachi owned and operated Cherry Blossom Boutique in Los Angeles, where she cultivated not only a successful business but also a reputation for her chic fashion and eye for beauty. She was admired by all who knew her and cherished as the longest-living sibling in her family, reaching an extraordinary century of life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland, California. The family will forever remember Sachi as a one-of-a-kind presence and is deeply grateful for her peaceful passing. Special thanks are extended to Thinn and Winn Aye and the compassionate staff of Golden Living Guest Home for their unwavering care.
