Remembering…
Ruthie D. Mann was the second of ten children born to Russell and Annie Maud Chaney on November 13, 1934 in Choctow, Alabama. The family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1952 while Russell was stationed in Port Chicago, California. Ruthie graduated from Rancho High School.
Ruthie married Horace Mann in 1958 and they raised three daughters. Regina Ann, Evelyn Denise and Sharon Lorraine. They parted ways in 1983 while remaining friends and actively co-parenting their three children. Ruthie held a host of part time jobs and finally worked full time when her youngest daughter graduated from college. She was a devoted mother.
Ruthie became a faithful member of First Church of Religious Science in 1980. She was an usher and was constantly inviting people to know Christ. Later she moved to Altadena, Caljfornja where she attended Agape whenever she was able.
Ruthie is proceeded in death by both parents, Russell and Annie Chaney, her sisters, Truevella Dixie Ada, her brothers, Warren and Russell. At the age of 80 she leaves her children, Regina Walker (husband Donald) of Oakland, California, Evelyn King of Beaumont, Texas, Sharon Garrett of Altadena, California, her grandchildren, Jasmine Ruth Garrett, Miles Azizi King, Troy Horace Walker, her sisters Doretta (Arthur), Sylvia, brothers, Speedy (Carolyn) and Scott along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
