Ruth Marian Wong's Obituary
Ruth M. Wong, 89, passed away July 16th.
A fourth-generation Chinese American, Ruth was born in San Francisco on December 11, 1923. She attended Commodore Stockton High School and went on to a career as a medical assistant. She met John Git Wong and they wed in 1947 and spent 63 years together until his passing in 2010.
Ruth was an active member of the Chinese Historical Society and very interested in the history of the Chinese in California. She was known for her compassion for others and for being a world-class coupon clipper.
Ruth is survived by her sister, Dr. Rita Chow and two sons, Michael Lee and Rev. Daniel Wong. She also leaves four grandchildren: Joshua Wong, Tiffany Wong, Christopher Lee and Ryan Barbonio. In addition she will be greatly missed by many loving family members and friends.
A viewing will be held on July 26th from 5-8pm and celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on Saturday, July 27th at 10:30am both at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary in Oakland.
