Ruth Elizabeth Abrams' Obituary
Ruth Elizabeth Cochran was born on March 14, 1933 to Nathaniel Cochran and Ruth Chloe
Ford in San Francisco California. At an early age the family relocated to Oakland, California where she attended public schools. Ruth, affectionately known as (Sissie), was a proud alumni of McClymonds High School class of 1951. She was involved is many extracurricular activities— cheerleading being her favorite. While at McClymonds, she met and later married Edward Earl Abrams. Their union produced two daughters, Annette Carol and Rachelle Mylease.
She had a career as a teacher’s assistant with the Berkeley Unified School District, retiring in 1998. In 1969 Ruth became a member at Church By The Side Of The Road. She was active in many capacities but found her true calling when she joined the Chancel Choir where she served as president for many years with great pride. Rarely did she miss a choir rehearsal or a Sunday service. Her beautiful soprano voice will be greatly missed.
