Rudy Klaver passed away peacefully on June 12, 2014 and is preceded in death by his wife Sita in 2005. As a fixture of Albany, Rudy lived in the same home for nearly 60 years following his immigration from Holland in 1955. As a graduate from the University of Delft, he joined Chevron in Richmond, which led to a career as Chief Physicist in their research department and a storied career in the development of new technologies in electrical instrumentation and maritime safety of crude oil shipping.
Retired in 1992 after 36 years with Chevron, Rudy led a life of friend to many always ready lend an ear to discuss interests and to offer sage advice. As a loving husband, he and Sita traveled the world and enjoyed a dedicated life being grandparents to an extended family that included his daughter Sonja and son Mark, and their families including Mike and Kelly and grandchildren Tyler, Marissa, Marika, Anneke, and Aidan. As a loving brother, Rudy is survived by his sister Els in Pacifica CA and brother Tony in Bellingham WA.
Services will be private and the family encourages donations to charities of their choosing in honor of Rudy’s desire to help those less fortunate.
