Rosie Lee Robinson's Obituary
Rosie Lee (Hytower) Robinson, age 92, a native of Coffeeville, AL and resident of Oakland, California, born to the late Earl Thomas Hytower and Pairlee Smith-Hytower, departed this life August 3, 2012, in Oakland, California. Rosie joined Union Baptist Church, in Coffeeville, Alabama, at in early age. Later, she joined Faith Baptist Church in Oakland, CA. She was active in the Women's Missionary until her health declined. Rosie worked many years in the health care industry as a nurse and caregiver. She was a long-time member of Faith Baptist Church in Oakland, California. She loved ballroom dancing and tending her vegetable garden and flowers. Rosie was a seasoned world traveler: she went to Jamaica, Europe, China, Argentina, Panama, Hawaii and many other destinations in the United States. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband of 25 years, Lee Edward Robinson, Sr.; son Leon Thompson; brother Willie James Hightower and brother-in-law Rev. Willie L. Harris, Sr.; paternal grandparents Willie and Zuma (Brown) Hytower, maternal grandparents John Smith, Jr. and Dinah Williams Smith; paternal great grandparents, Foster and Tempe Brown. She is survived by daughter Earline Cox of Vallejo, California; stepson Lee Edward Robinson, Jr.; granddaughter Anita Thompson; sisters Mary Lee Harris of Seale, AL, and Louise Watkins of San Francisco, California; beloved niece Ernestine (David) Hill; nieces Joyce Harris-Stokes, Vanessa Ann (Bernard) Nicholas, Jocelyn (Tracy) Harris, Rosemary (David) Ray; nephew Willie Harris, Jr., Willie Hightower, Jr, Woodrow Watkins, Jr.,Dion Watkins, and a host of great nieces and nephews. Special friends; Velma Bell, Bernice McAlpine, Alice Withers, Floyd Pittman and Elzie Jones of Oakland, California. Special thanks to Tina Goodman, caregiver, who provided loving care and comfort during Rosie's last four months at home. Our sincere appreciation to the doctors and staff at Kaiser Hospital. Special thanks to Aretha Hampton, Social worker at Kaiser, for her assistance in setting up the services to help Rosie remain at home. Viewing and meeting with family members will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, California 94611, (510) 654-0123. Services will be held August 17, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 2680 64th Avenue, Oakland, CA 94605 (510) 633-1628, Rev. Curtis Robinson, Pastor and Eulogist. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
